Advisory Council
To fulfill our purpose, we regularly gather insights through member surveys. The Advisory Council, a representative group of members, goes deeper into specific topics, providing feedback and informing the CEO about members' concerns. Their input guides our initiatives.
How the council works
The Advisory Council meets virtually every two months for up to 2 hours, engaging 12-15 members and discussing a maximum of 2 initiatives per meeting. They are joined by Modo's CEO and another team member join at the meeting's end for a summary of discussions.
Selection process
After receiving expressions of interest, a lottery draw selects participants, ensuring a balanced Advisory Council reflective of our membership's demographics, usage, and membership types.
Selected members engage in up to 4 meetings, promoting ongoing representation refresh and broad member participation.

Compensation
While participation is intended to be voluntary, each participant will receive an honorarium of $25 in Modo driving credit per meeting.
If there are barriers that you feel may prevent you from participating in the Advisory Council, but you still wish to participate, please contact us at advisory@modo.coop and we will try to work them out.

What's the difference with the board of directors?
The Member Advisory Council welcomes all Modo members, ensuring an inclusive space for engagement and feedback, regardless of membership status. It serves as a stepping stone for those new to cooperative participation, facilitating involvement in decision-making and communication with Modo's leadership.
In contrast, the Board of Directors, comprised exclusively of Modo Plus shareholding members, offers a higher level of involvement and responsibility. Board members oversee strategic direction, financial performance, and policy setting requiring a deeper commitment to shape Modo's future and uphold its sustainability.
