We don’t nominate ourselves for “best employer” awards. It’s our employees who let us know each year they feel 100% connected to our Purpose, and that is all the validation we need! With our social purpose at the forefront of why we exist, Modo has always put people first, creating a progressive and inclusive workplace. And our work continues.
Because we acknowledge that systemic racism negatively impacts employment opportunities and career advancement for racialized groups, we are turning our focus toward racial equity in our own workplace.
Anchored by our Purpose, we are committed to these aspects of inclusivity as they relate to anti-racism,
We believe these steps forward are helpful and just, and will result in Modo being a more inclusive employer.
Living Wage is an opportunity for businesses to step up and make a positive and tangible contribution to the lives of thousands of BC families earning minimum wage while still living below the poverty line.
Currently, the Minimum Wage in BC is $14.60/hour, which can leave many families choosing between paying rent or buying groceries. Living Wage, set at $20.91/hour in Metro Vancouver and $20.50 in Victoria, is an opportunity for employers to do better and one that Modo’s CEO Patrick Nangle says aligns completely with the Co-op’s purpose of transforming communities. “Being a Living Wage employer is not only good for people, it’s good for business.
By paying our employees and major contractors a wage that reflects the true costs of living, we are making a much-needed investment in the long-term prosperity of our communities and economy.”
Having Modo available to you during the day – for work related or personal trip – makes it even easier to commute to work by bike (or public transit). All of our staff commute to work car-free, with many riding their bikes. We’re proud to be a bike-friendly business to support our staff’s commitment to cycling – and reducing vehicle traffic and congestion on our streets – with access to showers, in-office bike racks, and plenty of storage for gear.
