A lot has changed since we started BC’s first carshare back in 1997. We now offer an attractive range of vehicles, we share our carsharing software with other organizations, and our customer service maintains high satisfaction among our members. One thing that hasn’t changed: we are – and remain proud to be – a member-owned co-op. We’ve always put our people first and today we are a Living Wage certified employer in BC. It is our organizational priority to build a team that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.
Our employees love working for a successful social enterprise and tell us they are 100% connected to our Purpose and proud to work at Modo.
Like any company culture, “what it feels like” at Modo starts with our Purpose and why we are in business. It’s absolutely true that we attract amazing talent – and our thriving employees are here because they want to make their mark by contributing to something with real social value.
Call us changemakers, disrupters, or visionaries. But one thing that is clear is that we wouldn’t be where we are without an open-minded culture that invites – and often demands – creative thinking and the ability to re-imagine the world around us.
We’re a lean and nimble team. We get a lot done without much overhead, which means that our path to success is through genuine team work.
Ideas can bubble up from any part of the organization and great ideas can be put into action because of everyone’s willingness to roll up their sleeves and pitch in.
Long before diversity was a ‘thing’ for companies to strive for, Modo has been the kind of workplace where everyone feels comfortable to just be who they are. We especially welcome and want to be inclusive of folks identifying with underrepresented groups, because we want to reflect the communities we serve.
We bring our whole selves to the job without having to check bits and pieces of our identity at the door. That’s why we are inclusive.
At the end of the day, we are all here because we want to make the world a better place. Because we’re open and collaborative and inclusive, we tend to care – a lot.
We’re not really a small company anymore and we’re certainly not a start-up. But the environment we have fostered is deeply caring for those around us. Everyone wants the best for you and has your back.
Interested in joining our team? We love hearing from Modo members who want to contribute their unique skills and talent to our co-op – you’re always welcome to drop us a line at jobs@modo.coop.
