Rate Plan Changes

July 31st, 2017 – Effective September 1, 2017, we’ll be making some changes to our rate plans. Please find your member plan below, to get all the information you need to know.

Modo Plus

These changes won’t affect your hourly rate of $5 per hour or daily cap of $50 per 24 hours and of course you will still be guaranteed the lowest price on every trip.

Last year we simplified our kilometre pricing to make trip planning easier for Modo Plus members. To cover rising operational costs, we’ll be raising our kilometre pricing by 5¢ to a flat 25¢ per kilometre. For example, a typical member trip of 30kms will only increase by a total of $1.50 – no hourly or daily rate change. For trips where your lowest rate adjusts to the Monthly member plan (lowest price guarantee), please see the changes for the plan below.

For Modo Plus members who have been signed up for Pre-Authorized Debit payments

Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) was offered to Modo Plus members as an alternative form of payment. Unfortunately, it has added significant administrative time and costs to process and will therefore be discontinued.

Beginning September 1, 2017, we can accept payment by:

  • a valid credit card linked to your account (preferred method)
  •  cheque by mail or in person
  • payment in person at our offices in Vancouver and Victoria by cash, credit card, or debit card
  • Electronic bill payment (EBP) via your online banking profile

To update your credit card settings, log in at https://bookit.modo.coop and click My Account > Settings > Invoicing

Monthly Members

To cover rising operational costs, the Monthly hourly rate will increase from $8 to $8.75. For example, a typical member trip of 3-hours will only add a total of $2.25. The 24-hr cap will increase by $6, to $70 per day.

We’ve heard your feedback on wanting a higher kilometre trip allowance. Effective September 1, we’re giving you another 50km, bringing the allowance per booking to 250km.

If you exceed 250km per booking, a 25¢ per kilometre fee will apply, an increase of 5¢. Beginning September 1, 2017, all Monthly members will need a valid credit card on their account for payments according to our Pay as you Drive Policy, introduced in February 2017.

To update your credit card settings, log in at https://bookit.modo.coop and click My Account > Settings > Invoicing

Business Members

To cover rising operational costs, the hourly rate for Business accounts will increase from $8 to $8.75. For example, a typical member trip of 3-hours this will only add a total of $2.25. The 24hr cap will increase by $6, to $70 per day.

For Business members who have been signed up for Pre-Authorized Debit payments

Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) was offered to Business accounts as an alternative form of payment. Unfortunately, it has added significant administrative time and costs to process and will therefore be discontinued. Beginning September 1, 2017, all Business accounts will be moved to a 21-day payment cycle.

Beginning September 1, 2017, all Businesses will need to make payment using one of the following methods:

  • a valid credit card linked to the Business account (preferred method)
  •  cheque by mail or in person
  • payment in person at our offices in Vancouver and Victoria by cash, credit card, or debit card
  • Electronic bill payment (EBP) via your online banking profile
  • Electronic funds transfer (EFT) by contacting Modo’s Office Manager at ap@modo.coop

To update your credit card settings, log in at https://bookit.modo.coop and click My Account > Settings > Invoicing

IMPORTANT for all bookings that end after August 31st: 

  • We announced these changes on July 31st, 2017. If you had already made a booking before this time which starts in August and extends into September, then the rates applicable at the time of booking will apply for your entire trip.
  • If you created a new August/September booking after we announced these changes, then the new rates will apply.
  • All bookings starting in September or later will be charged under the new rates, regardless of when they were created.
  • Important: Please note that Modo’s booking rate is always based on the end date of the booking!

Over the past year, rising operational costs—maintenance, insurance, repairs, and fuel—have led us to examine how we can continue to provide our service at the lowest price possible.
