Said Tony, “I guess despite the bad weather, I should keep on biking to work. The panniers are going to get put into action immediately. Thanks again!”
That’s not all…
Here’s the great news from Spring + Autumn BTWW this year, Together, we:
- recruited almost 7,000 registered participants
- cycled 496,000 kms in over 49,000 trips
- recruited over 1,100 first-time commuter cyclists
- competed in over 1,800 teams
- saved 102 tonnes in greenhouse gas emissions compared to driving the same distances in a mid-sized car
Since 2007, approximately 7500 people have tried cycling to work for the first time thanks to Bike to Work Week.
And our polling shows that once people try cycling, the many health, economic and environmental benefits tend to keep people on their bikes.
Thank you for participating in BTWW. And thank you for helping to increase ridership in Metro Vancouver.
Stay tuned for the next Bike to Work Week: May 27-June 2, 2013.
