NEW WESTMINSTER, BC (June 27, 2017) — TransLink is making it easier today for its customers to connect with carsharing services through the addition of carshare locations at six Metro Vancouver SkyTrain stations.

A partnership with Modo Co-operative is adding nine spots at six stations in four cities, and we expect to announce more spots in the coming weeks. Modo is a two-way (or round-trip) member-owned carshare service that operates in 13 municipalities across the lower mainland, with locations all along the SkyTrain system including the Evergreen Extension. Although there have been carshare spots near some SkyTrain stations for a few years, this is the first agreement that creates stalls directly on TransLink property.

Modo vehicles are now located at the following SkyTrain stations:

  • Surrey – King George (2), Scott Road (1)
  • Coquitlam – Coquitlam Central (1)
  • Burnaby – Lougheed (2), Edmonds (2)
  • New Westminster – Braid (1)

To encourage more people to try carsharing and take advantage of these new, convenient locations, Modo is offering a $50 driving credit to new members who use the promo code “TRANSIT2MODO” when joining online at www.modo.coop before Sept. 30.”

This partnership with a carsharing service is one of many ways TransLink aims to build a successful transportation system with easy connections to other ways of getting around, whether that be carsharing, bike sharing, cycling, transit and more.

Kevin Desmond, TransLink CEO

“We want to make it as easy as possible for our customers who use carsharing to connect with transit, and these stalls are just steps away from the fare gates. Having carsharing at our stations is a great way to support a car-free or ‘car-lite’ lifestyle, using transit, walking, cycling and having access to a car when needed.”

Patrick Nangle, Modo CEO –

“There’s huge synergy between Modo members and transit users, who tend to choose more cost-effective and sustainable modes of transportation to get around. With affordability and convenience topping the list of reasons our members use us, having cars available right at the SkyTrain where people’s trips start and end makes a lot of sense.”
