Have you ever wondered how we keep our vehicles on the road 365 days a year? I was lucky enough to tag along with fleet service technician, Justin on a rainy Vancouver day in October where I got to see first-hand how our technicians keep the fleet in top shape. With over 700 vehicles in our fleet from cargo vans to electric cars to BMWs, our team has to be knowledgeable, creative, adaptable and efficient in order to keep up with demand.
Every day, our small team of five technicians tend to vehicles from Tsawwassen to UBC, Surrey to West Vancouver—and travelling all over the Lower Mainland means a whole lot of rain! We also have a fast-growing fleet in Victoria that is serviced by two technicians. Their daily rounds can include anything from patching tires to replacing dead batteries, moving vehicles, cleaning vehicles, buffing scratches, roadside car-washes and all sorts in between. When all else fails they bring vehicles to Commit, our East Van autobody shop, for larger and more challenging repairs.
After servicing a few vehicles, Justin and I made our way over to one of our larger storage lots in East Vancouver and got a cloudy view of Vancouver from up on high. The fleet team may occasionally battle the weather, but they get to enjoy the best views of the city. I bet they could tell you about all the secret Vancouver alleyways and all the best ways to beat traffic, too!
Maybe you’re thinking, “Phew, that’s a lot of work, how can they possibly do it?” That’s why we encourage our members to tidy their Modo at the end of each trip. A quick 2-minute check can save our fleet team lots of time when they’re on the road and it leaves the vehicle nice and tidy for the next member. That said, if you have a little extra time at the end of your booking you could earn yourself an hour of drive time. Click here for more details on that offer.
Thanks again Justin for letting me tag along and for keeping our fleet in top shape for our members! If you see any of our fleet team out there on a rainy day, feel free to say hi! (Bonus points if you bring them hot cocoa and donuts.)
