Recap: 2016 Modo Annual General Meeting

Where & When

This year marked our first AGM held simultaneously in Vancouver and Victoria. It presented a unique challenge because we wanted to maintain our sense of community at our AGM while making sure both audiences could view and hear the presentations without interruption. Thanks to the team at FMAV, we were able to live stream the entire meeting, as well as take questions!

2016 Board of Directors Election Results

Starting on January 11, eligible voting members headed to our online polls to vote for a Victoria director, as well as four Mainland directors. Voting closed at 4pm on the day of the AGM and the results were announced by our election auditor at the meeting.

Sarah Webb and Amy Severson were both re-elected to three-year terms for Victoria and the Mainland, respectively. We’re excited to welcome the newest members of our board on the Mainland:

  • David R. Crowe (3-year term)
  • Warren Cundy (2-year term)
  • Clayton R. Weir (2-year term)

Our membership also voted on a Special Resolution at the AGM which would allow for two Victoria directors this year to provide additional support and local expertise, and that if it were approved, the vacancy would be filled by the runner-up in the Victoria election. Having passed the vote, the board welcomed back Pam Hartling.

Modo for Business

For the first time, we adopted a theme for our AGM. “Modo for Business” allowed us to tip our hats to the many business members that are a rapidly growing part of our membership, and key to helping us grow our fleet overall.

Sharing the perspective of a small business and Modo member, Katja Macura, Co-Executive Director of LOCO, and Erin O`Melinn, Executive Director of HUB Cycling, prepared a short presentation that highlighted Modo’s specific impact on the local economy and how we’ve helped HUB Cycling reduce their bottom line when it comes to transportation costs.

We also had door prizes and AGM goodie bags featuring items generously offered by some of our Business members, including:
